Lauren Sylvia is a mixed media artist from Wooster, Ohio, currently based in Cleveland. Through painting, ceramics, and material exploration, she creates work that reflects on memory, identity, grief, and the experiences that shape who we become. Her practice is rooted in curiosity, allowing experimentation and intuition to guide each piece as it unfolds.

Rather than working toward a predetermined outcome, Lauren embraces process as a way of discovering meaning. She builds works through layers of color, texture, and mark making, creating images that emerge slowly, mirroring the way memories and emotions reveal themselves over time. Her work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find pieces of their own stories within each piece.

In 2025, Lauren was selected as the first inaugural Emerging Artist in Residence at Orange Art Center, where she presented her first solo exhibition, The Many Hues Between Brown and Blue. Inspired by the loss of her soul pet, Twila, the exhibition explored the passage of time through memory and devotion while grieving. Using layered watercolor, acrylic, ceramics, and mixed media, Lauren reflected on the way grief softens and reshapes our memories, allowing moments to fade, blur, and resurface in unexpected ways. Through her evolving practice, she continues to explore transformation and the deeply personal experiences that connect us all.
